So, I have those type of nails that are so brittle they peel off in layers and straight up break if I touch ANYTHING. When I was 16 and working part time I got paid really well and had a lot of spending money. I got my nails done every other week. It was then when my nails were FINALLY able to grow out because they have this awesome gel nail polish that grows out with it. So remembering that, and after seeing a friend of mine do her own gel nails, I decided to get into myself. The polish is really cheap! 290yen on Amazon.jp. The UV lamp was about 2,800yen. All the items were cheap separately, but I bought everything at once so I spent about 10,000yen.
I haven’t done any research or watched any youtube videos yet. I’m hoping to over spring break! So my first two attempts look very sloppy and ended up coming off because I went too much onto the edges and cuticles. I’ll post them so we can see if I improve at all over time.
I don’t know if you can see the lint on the pink ones. I didn’t know I needed to rub off the uncured nail polish with alcohol to get them to be smooth and not sticky. So I went to bed with my hands neatly placed on the bed by my sides only to wake up to a bunch of lint and still sticky polish. Should have googled earlier….
The set arrived a bit before Valentine’s Day so I decided to include a heart stone!
Okay so I tried my attempt at nail gradation. I can’t seem to get it to go Smoothly. Still looking for the best technique to accomplish this. To my readers, if you have any tips please share!!
It’s been a while. I did a lazy design. Just used some crackle Nail polish.
This weeks color choice is Halloween inspired because I went to Tokyo Disney Sea yesterday. I wanted to be apart of the festivities!!
This weeks marble art is summer inspired! Pink, yellow and white! I walk buy a surf shop everyday and these colors popped out at me! I thought oooh! summer nails!
Here are a couple colors I was messing with. Some of these are crazy!! The first picture I did a white base but my orange is really light. That’s why it looks weird. When I did an orange base it turned out nicely. You can see that under the orange french tip!
I’m a french tip girl at heart so I settled on the orange, white, and pink marble French!
So, I’ve been looking for a new technique to try out on my nails and came across water marbling. At first I wasn’t really sure how the colors would turn out if they are diluted in water but it turns out really nice.
It’s a lot simpler than i thought it would be. Some things I discovered the hard way… use bottled water, the first color add 2 drops and don’t forget to shake your nail in the water to get rid of any surface bubbles. Also, I did one hand at once. I didn’t want to waste polish because I use OPI and in Japan is $25 a bottle. I get all mine from the US but still waste not want not!
Here is the most helpful video i’ve found…
I wish i saw this before my first attempt which I will post here —>
another helpful hint!
the bigger the bullseye the stronger the color turns out. On the multi color one I did if you look at my middle finger its a bit lighter then the other nails. thats cause the first time i only did the colors twice in the bullseye. The other nails I layered them three times. So if you want a more opaque look… layer more in the bullseye!
